Section 179D has provided a federal tax deduction for certain qualifying energy-efficient commercial building property, including eligible interior lighting, HVAC, service hot water and building-envelope improvements.
Important 2026 Update
Federal legislation enacted in 2025 terminated the Section 179D deduction for property whose construction begins after June 30, 2026. Certain projects may remain eligible depending on when construction began and whether all applicable requirements are satisfied.
Because Section 179D eligibility depends on detailed statutory requirements, project timing and certification requirements, customers should consult a qualified tax professional before relying on any potential deduction.
